I've been busy.

I just wanted to say that I wrote letters to Ron Wyden, Gordon Smith, Earl Blumenauer and Peter DeFazio, and there's no reason that any of you couldn't do the same.

I've got a Portland Jazz Orchestra concert Friday. We're doing a birthday concert for John Coltrane, including my arrangement of You Are Too Beautiful and a Scott Hall/Charley Gray arrangement of the entirety of A Love Supreme. Also, I'm at Jimmy Mak's Saturday with Dan Faehnle, Phil Baker and Alan Jones, and tomorrow evening my swing quartet is playing from 9-11. Good times. Busy, busy.

On US26, there is no gasoline service between Madras and Sandy after hours. That is all.

Hi. Plenty has been going on, and I've been lax about publicizing things. I had a led a swing quintet this past Friday which was well-received. I also had a good gig with David Valdez at The Cave, a new club opened by Alan Jones.

I got my invitation to my 10-year High School reunion. I won't be able to make the big party/hosted bar affair (I'm working), but I can go to the family BBQ. I think that'll be more fun. It will be good to see people who took a different direction than I did after HS -- with children. Hopefully I can arrange to attend a more formal reception when the 20/25 year reunions roll around. I did enjoy the questionnaire. It had the question: How many children do you have (check 1, 2, 3, 4, other?). I think I had "other."

I just spent the last 3 hours and thirty minutes revising a chart I did in 2001 for the PSU Pep Band. We're reusing the transcription on the upcoming Portland Jazz Orchestra concert (music of Quincy Jones). The song? Soul Bossa Nova, also known as the theme from Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. I've noticed that I'm better at making good-looking charts than I used to be. I also noticed that the 8-bar flute solo is by Rahsaan Roland Kirk.

Last night I was bit on the nose by a Chihuahua. Needless to say, I had it coming.
